Possibly, but a lot depends on events, both sub-surface and above surface. Above surface, the price of oil has risen dramatically this year:
Crude Spot
Between February and November of 2007, the price of oil almost doubled. Ah, but that is just the plummeting US rupee, I mean dollar, some pundites have said. But it is not just about a weaker dollar, because (according to Bloomberg) for the whole year, though oil rose 57% in dollars, it also rose 42% in euros, 48% in yen and 55% in pound sterling. Notice has been taken, though deeper connexions are not yet being by the media or politicians, at least publicly. It took many years before climate change was finally taken seriously by the world - I remember giving a short summary lecture on global warming for my MSc ten years ago, the same year that Kyoto was signed, yet despite my lecture (to a throng of two fellow classmates) and Kyoto it has taken another decade for climate to be on the lips of every politician, and for a head of state to be thrown out because refusal to take the matter seriously (John Howard of Australia).
