Editor's comment: The announcement of large additional reserves by the Iraq Government do not appear to be backed up by new hard data. Although the country undoubtedly has very large volumes of unproduced oil it is impossible for the “reputable, international oil companies . . ." cited to be able to, at a sweep, triple available resources merely with the compilation of "recent geological surveys and seismic data".
