StatoilHydro Faces EU Probe of ConocoPhillips Deal

European Union regulators stepped up an antitrust investigation into StatoilHydro ASA's proposed purchase of three Conoco Phillips units that sell motor fuels in Scandinavia.
The EU's antitrust authority said in a statement from Brussels today that it will review the transaction for 90 working days and make a ruling by Sept. 18. The proposed deal was already the subject of a five-week EU inquiry.

StatoilHydro, Norway's largest oil company, said on Sept. 19 that it agreed to buy 274 JET automated service stations in Scandinavia from Houston-based ConocoPhillips. A price for the transaction hasn't been disclosed. ... Read full article
